Kote Sulaberidze's exhibition "Quiet Life"

2020

Tbilisi History Museum, within the framework of the project "Contemporary Art Gallery", presents Kote Sulaberidze's exhibition "Quiet Life".

The exhibition features paintings and the installation that describes a conversation between two characters (wife and husband) in the artist's studio. The text is given against the background of visualized tables. The viewer, who seems to be looking at the tables from above, is given the opportunity to participate and at the same time to distance himself into the free space.

Kote Sulaberidze is a representative of the 90's generation. He works in various media (installation, video art, etc.), but as he says, painting remains "the closest and favorite media for him." This is evidenced by the first work of the author, created in his childhood, which was used as an epigraph of the exhibition. Attempts to synthesize visual and verbal information were still evident in Kote Sulaberidze's graduate work, and his art was distinguished with multi-layered sense.

The exhibition was conceived as an international project in which a German artist, Caroline Bayer, was to take part, but due to the global pandemic, she was unable to arrive in Georgia. This fact also responds to Kote Sulaberidze's opinion that: "The project is an attempt to understand how it is possible to gain peace of mind so as not to disturb someone else, which usually does not work! .."
